Labour Class War Law ‘to Hit Middle Britain’

DAILY EXPRESS: HARRIET Harman declared a new Labour class war yesterday with plans to force all public bodies to narrow the gap between rich and poor.

Town halls, Whitehall departments and quangos will have a legal responsibility to break down the barriers of social class in the Labour deputy leader’s latest equality drive.

But the move sparked anger last night, with critics warning that the proposals will punish the middle class and unleash yet another deluge of politically correct bureaucracy.

The Tories accused Ms Harman of “playing to the Left-wing gallery”.

The plans were unveiled in a Government White Paper on “social mobility” yesterday. >>> By Macer Hall, Political Editor | Wednesday, January 14, 2009
